
Biography
Jaehyouk Choi (Senior Member, IEEE) was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1980. He received the B.S. degree (summa cum laude) in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2003, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, GA, USA, in 2008 and 2010, respectively.
From 2010 to 2011, he was with Qualcomm, Inc., San Diego, CA, USA, where he was involved in the design of multi-standard cellular transceivers. In 2012, he joined the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), Ulsan, South Korea, as a faculty member. From 2019 to 2023, he was an Associate Professor with the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, South Korea. Since 2023, he has been a Professor with Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea. His research interests include high-speed mixed-signal and RF integrated circuits for emerging wireless and wired communication standards.
Dr. Choi served as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) Member for the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC) from 2017 to 2025 and for the IEEE European Solid-State Circuits Conference (ESSCIRC) from 2016 to 2021. He has been a TPC Member for the IEEE Asian Solid-State Circuits Conference (A-SSCC) since 2021. He served as the ISSCC Far-East Regional Chair for ISSCC 2025 and was a Distinguished Lecturer (DL) of the IEEE Solid-State Circuits Society (SSCS) from 2020 to 2021. He received the IEEE–IEIE Joint Award: Young Engineer of the Year in 2020 and the IEEE 2025 Takuo Sugano Award for Outstanding APAC Paper. He was also a recipient of the President’s Award of the Korea Semiconductor Design Contest in 2021 and 2025. He has served as an Associate Editor of the IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits and is currently serving as the Vice Chair of the RF Subcommittee for ISSCC 2027. He received the IEEE 2025 Takuo Sugano Award for Outstanding APAC Paper. He was also a recipient of the President’s Award of the Korea Semiconductor Design Contest in 2021 and 2025.
